Bio

Venezuelan born guitarist Rafa Godoy is the grandson of iconic Colombian composer Rafael Godoy Lozano. He began studying classical guitar and Venezuelan music at the age of 12. As a teenager Rafa played in several rock-pop bands, however, he never lost his passion for Venezuelan and Latin American traditional music.

At the age of 19 Rafa moved to Sydney, Australia, where he studied classical guitar, composition, performance, electronic music and education at the University of New England and the University of Technology Sydney.In 2005 he released Nostalgia. In 2006 and 2009 respectively, ::Dialogo:: and Homage to Rafael Godoy were successfully released in Australia and around the world through MGM. Rafa has performed his music since 2004 in venues and bars across Latin America, the US, Asia and Australia.

Rafa Godoy’s newest release Chocolato Espresso was released in Australia through The Planet Company (MGM) in August 2013.

Rafa Godoy recently completed a Honours degree at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide researching Venezuelan and Latin American classical guitar under Oliver Fartach-Naini. He is currently working on a release of Venezuelan and Colombian guitar music for 2018.
